Windey River
By: Natalie Fontillas
Life is a river.
Always going forward
With twists and turns, dams to stop you
But there are holes in the dam
Because you can get through anything.
Sometimes the river gets a little dry,
And the rain comes to fill it up again.
Little and big frogs, coming and going.
Staying for long times and short.
And then, at the end of the river,
Is a pond.
Where all rivers end,
Where it is peaceful, day and night.
And eventually, my river will end I will come to my pond.
Because life is a river

Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a German monk, priest, professor of theology and iconic person of the protestant reformation. One important thing that Martin Luther did was translate the bible into the vernacular so that it was more accessible. Another thing he did that impacted history was teaching people that salvation is not earned by good deeds but received as a free gift of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ as a redeemer from sin. His teachings challenged the pope and those identified with Martin Luther’s teachings were called Lutherans. Lastly, Martin Luther was instrumental in decreasing the power abuses of the church in daily life and politics. This tremendous action was the first step to secularism. Martin Luther, a German man, was a religious figure and made important advancements in religion.

Chinese Poem
By:Natalie Fontillas
The rocks lay there as if in a slumber
All is quiet; all is peaceful
Nothing seems to be moving except the trees swaying gracefully in the summer breeze
The blossomed flowers flowing off gradually
In the summer night they become illuminated by the moon
Sleeping soundly on the branches till morning
When they will sway again

I like it. Are the blossoms sleeping soundly? Mr. Chester

"Sahara Desert Greeing Due to Climate Changes"
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/07/090731-green-sahara.html

Summary:
The article i read was titled "Sahara Desert Greening Due to Climate Changes". The main reason it is greening is from a large increase of rainfall providing the nutrients the plants need to survive in the vast desert. Because of this amount of rain, there are some predictions of the desert turning into a lush savanna. The most vegetation is happening in Chad and western Sudan because the hotter air can hold more moisture, creating more rain. New trees such as acacias flourish and small shruba turn into bigger ones. Although there are predictions of this rain staying, a decrese in rainfall is possible and likely. Also, there is controvery on whether the Sahara will have continuous dry weather or if it will have continuous wet weather. The Sahara's future is unsure, but we do know that the Sahara Desert is greening due to climate change.
